Today's picture is specially for the girl who had never seen Singapore squirrels in her life until last Saturday.



Now at least one more person knows what a pain it is to freeze them into a shot because they are such skittish and agile creatures.

It's mid-week already and ladies' night is here! The day where ladies get to deck out to the nines and boogey their night away for (mostly) free. One little lady I know is getting all dressed up to hit the town too...



Except I'm not sure if she really knows the difference between ladies' night and Halloween.

Sweetling

Their life on the streets may be hard, but their love remains strong. Open your hearts to them, and they will do the same for you. Trust and love are perhaps the 2 things a dog "nose" better than us.

As I Lay Me Down

Dogs give so much love and joy to a home that I hope everyone experiences this pureness at least once in their lifetime. And if they are ready to open their hearts to a furry, drooling, tail wagging companion, I do hope they consider the adoption route because it can help save a life.

While some dogs (like mine) demand to rest their tired limbs on fluffy beds and sofas, there are many others who have no inkling of such luxury.



For some, home is where the hard (ground) is.

TGIF

The thing I love most about dogs is most of the time, they wear their emotions on their sleeve. You seldom have to double guess them and they don't think of ways to manipulate you either...well other than the occasional treat, loving pet and warm bed at nights, but hey, blame yourself for being such a softie.

So since it's the end of a hectic work week, here's a tribute to the creatures I adore. It's by no means an award-winning photo, but it's one I like because of the moment.



I bet many people in the office are exactly like Brownie, saying "Thank God its Friday!"

Giant Lizard

Everytime I see them, its like taking a glimpse into the prehistoric dinosaur age. They awed me the first time I saw them, with their grace and beauty. Years later, I'm sucked further into their charming spell as I learnt more about them and their awesome versatility.

Whether it is a grateful stray, or a pampered pooch, the amount of unconditional love they willingly give from their little hearts never fail to amaze me.

The Muffet Mystery

I used to wonder what kinda idiot would be so afraid of spiders. The average spider is so much smaller than a human that it should be the one screaming in fear instead. But that was before I saw this...



Maybe it was this fascinating beauty who scared Miss Muffet shitless.

Sweet Nibblets

This sweet little Plantain Squirrel was spotted relentlessly stripping the tree branch without mercy. Perhaps it was collecting materials for nesting purposes?



Or maybe it has serious anger management issues. ^.^

Beach's A Bitch

For some reason, cleanliness doesn't apply to our local beaches. At times, I long for the cool beautiful beaches of Australia but whenever I see ours, it's just 2 different worlds. In fact, someone should amend that famous line:- Sun. Sand. Sea.............




...and Seaweed.

Raindrops On Roses...

... and kisses on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens. These are Juliet Roberts' favourite things in the Sound of Music which is a classic in every right. Except I didn't capture a rose though... =.="



But raindrops on petals are nonetheless a sight to behold.

A pity about the picture softness amongst other things. Sigh.

Feast

They say there is sunshine after the rain. True, but for a hobbyist birder, there's more than just light for photography. Birds of all species emerged from their hiding to celebrate the gift of life from the downpour as they bathed in newly formed pools and feasted on the blades of greenery.



Perhaps life is not a circle. It's in the shape of a water droplet.

Steps of Uncertainty

We never completely know what the next step in life offers us. What will each step bring? What is God's plan? But if we stay on just one single step, we will never know what may be in store. So gather your guts and climb. The height can make you fall further and the hurt may get worse...



... but at least it offers us a glimpse of what lies beyond.

Widespread in Asia, these intriguing creatures are the only primates whose numbers are thriving in our island because of the abundance of food and the absence of predators. It's always a joy to photograph them because of their adorable human-like antics...



... until one decided to chase after me because he likes the ribbons on my shirt. -.-"

Whatcha Looking At, Punk?!

As much as I try to add a daily variety of subjects, sometimes a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. After all, the relentless unpredictable weather these past couple of weeks is making it darn hard to strut around with my precious camera in tow. As such, I have no choice but to call upon my beautiful model once again.

Lure of the Lorikeet

Parrot loving me choose to showcase an old picture of a Lorikeet today. As much as it would be a delight to capture this shot in the wild (are there any free roaming ones?!), this was unfortunately taken at the bird park last year.



Today, when I look back at this photo, I notice a couple of undesirable mistakes in it. I do hope it means I'm taking a step towards improvement! ^^

A Special Day

Today marks a special day.

Firstly, its been a month since I last launched this project. It seemed impossible at first, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I do hope it will continue successfully and most important of all, that I will improve as time goes by. It's just the beginning, and I have a long way to go still.

But today is not just about me. It's also about a special girl I know and love. She's sensitive, sweet and kind, and although her time with us has been short, she has touched our hearts nonetheless with her endearing nature.

Today is JoJo's 49th day.



This isn't an award-winning photograph, but it's one which I like for many reasons. Darling as she is, she's extremely camera shy so it's a rare bold moment for her to face my camera head on. This was taken at a dog park, and she chose to linger with her owner, never leaving his side too far nor too long. Individually, they are unique pieces. Together, the both of them seem to make up a complete jigsaw puzzle of love - the one described so often in those Chicken Soup for the Soul books.

I love how her eyes catches the setting sunlight, how she seems to glow, in the light, in the love. I love her natural smile, the one she readily dishes out all the time, because she's always a delightful bundle of joy, a cocktail of energy full of life and bounce.

I remember this moment very clearly, as if it were just yesterday that we were having fun at the dog park. A lot of things may have changed since then, but I know the love and the memories will stay in our hearts for many years to come.

"You were loved and always have been. Take this love with you wherever you are."

The One

Today shall be dedicated to my furry love. Alex the lion, Alex the lazy, Alex the handsome, Alex the smelly, Alex the pariah, Alex the dumb... these are the nicknames given to him by friends and family who fell in love with him over the years. Here's one nickname my sisters and I give, because we know him inside out, and we know its darn true.

Many Faces Of A Garden Lizard

This fella was bright orange when my sister spotted him. I whisked out my camera and gently approached him for a snap. He obliged, albeit a tad shyly. Yet, through all his willingness, he had instantly shed his bright colour for something more dull as if urging me that he's really a boring subject not worth my attention.



When we left, I glanced back and he was streaked in beautiful orange again.

Talent - it's up to some to show it, and up to many to see.

Water Runs Dry

The spell of dry weather for the past few weeks in January and early February has taken its toll on our waters at a local park. Though the weatherman has linked this unusual phenomenon to the weather changes in Siberia rather than a sign of global warming, I believe it's still a good time to make people stop and think about how they are screwing up the delicate balance of nature with their arrogance, thoughtlessness and irresponsibility.



It's probably not too long before our children are left without a home.
